Oscars 2016: Australia Ready to Take Home Big Awards

New Oscar Trophies

The stage is set, the speeches have been memorised, the fashion styles are spot on and a million eyes are rooting for their favourites! Australians, however, are keeping their fingers crossed for their favourite homies to bring home the Oscar. If all goes well, these Australians will get to bring the coveted golden statue back home.

While “Carol” star Cate Blanchett and “Mad Max: Fury Road” director George Miller are not on the top of the charts for most bookmakers, others have strong chances of winning a trophy.

“Mad Max: Fury Road” has swept the Oscar list with 10 nominations. This is just two less than “The Revenant.” Now, it is up to the movie and their team to make Australia proud. MyGC reports that while George Miller and John Seale are nominated for direction and cinematography respectively, there are others who could make Australians feel honoured. For instance, Andrew Jackson, Dan Oliver and Tom Wood, who have been nominated for their stunning visual effects for “Mad Max: Fury Road,” are being considered as the bookmakers’ favourites so far.

That is not all. According to The Australian, punters are betting on Margaret Sixel to win an award for editing “Mad Max: Fury Road.” Colin Gibson and Lisa Thompson are also being touted to win an award for the production design of the “Mad Max” franchise. Ben Osmo and David White too are being considered as Oscar favourites for their work in “Mad Max: Fury Road.”
