“Orange Is The New Black” has gain a cult of followers and continues to dominate television ratings as the ladies of Litchfield jail battle day-to-day challenges in prison.
Since “OITNB” season four has been confirmed for 2016, and many fans are eager to see what will happen to the series, we’re listing down five reasons why the next season could be the best one.
1. Alex and Bennet May Still be Alive
Alex Vause (Laura Prepon) and John Bennet (Matt McGorry) might still be alive! Christian Today said Alex might return in season 4 even if she seemed to be dead in season three. LA Times wrote Prepon recently shared a photo on her Instagram account where she was seen wearing an orange jumpsuit and held up an identification card for a prison. She captioned the image, “excited to get out there and make an awesome season.”
Meanwhile, McGorry told Yahoo that Bennett’s return is up to the show’s writers.
“The thing that I can say about Season 4 is that it’s the writers’ decision about whether or not Bennett is back… I have my fingers crossed that he comes through and is the man that we all hoped he was. But I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that wasn’t the case. Like me, I guess you’ll just have to wait and see,” the actor explained.
2. Red-Healy Romance
The possibility of a romance between Red (Kate Mulgrew) and Healy (Michael Harney) was teased at the end of season three.
LA Times noted that Healy and Red bonded last season and during Morello’s (Yael Stone) wedding, the two also exchanged glances and conversation
3. New Cast
LA Times said Netflix has announced that it is in the process of casting new inmates for the show. It was suggested during the season 3 finale that more prisoners will be coming to Litchfield.
4. First TV Series Nominated for Best Comedy and Best Drama Categories at the Emmys
This alone is reason to include this show in your must-watch list. The Business Insider noted that “OITNB” has been known to defy categories. In 2014, the hour-long series won three awards in comedy categories at the Emmys. However, a new Emmy rule this year forced Netflix to file a petition to get a waiver for “OITNB” to enter the 2015 field as a comedy. The petition was rejected and the show now enters the “Drama” field.
This means “OITNB” becomes the first show to be nominated for both “Outstanding Drama Series” and “Outstanding Comedy Series.”
5. It is a Hilarious Show
Life in prison can be challenging but the show offers a lot of fun. The show has proven for the last three seasons that it can provide laugh out loud moments.
Netflix has yet to announce the exact premiere date for “Orange is the New Black” season 4 but it is expected to be in June 2016.
