Anime otakus must be very excited when the news about “One Piece” movie adaptation lands on the Internet and there is also a report that the “Death Note” star will be portraying the Straw Hat pirate captain, Luffy.
Shanghai-based company Shanghai Minghuan Investment Co., Ltd. reportedly acquired the copyright from its creator Eiichiro Oda for 1.6 billion Yen (AU$ 204,407,62.49), as per Businesswire press release. The Chinese company reportedly eyes to make a live version with Masataka Kubota as the lead star.
Kubota leads the poll-Who They’d Like To See Play Luffy from One Piece, which has been created by Goo Ranking. He plays Yagami on another widely known manga series, “Death Note.” On the other hand, Chinese Idol Girl Group GNZ48 member Xie Leilei is rumored to play Charlotte Purin.
The news has made the avid fans excited, but Anime News Network reported that Japanese publisher Shueisha debunked the report. The “Internet’s most trusted Anime news source” also reported the exciting news after its release.
“Japanese publisher Shueisha told ANN on Friday that a press release posted on Business Wire on Thursday, stating that Chinese company Shanghai Minghuan Investment plans to create a live-action film based on Eiichiro Oda’s ‘One Piece’, is false. Shueisha’s comment didn’t give any further information,” reads the statement.
“One Piece” readers and followers might be disappointed at the latest report, but the possibilities are still endless and one day a live action movie might be out in theaters so just cross your fingers.
As for the manga series, chapter 829 spoilers revealed that Ceasar Clown might be the newest member of the Mugiwara crew. According to the recent news, Oda has been preparing the chemist to be the newest member of Luffy’s gang.
Caeser Clown is a chemist who specializes in weapons of mass destruction, as cited on “One Piece” Wiki. He was the main antagonist in the Punk Hazard arc.
