Could this be the end for Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan? Simon Cowell has finally broken his silence regarding the extended hiatus of One Direction. He revealed the fate of the English-Irish pop boy band.
Simon Cowell is an English reality television judge, film, record, and television producer, and most importantly, he was the brain behind forming One Direction and Fifth Harmony. These two X-Factor discoveries were rumored to perform on the “America’s Got Talent” stage.
When asked about these hyped performances, Simon Cowell told Variety: “We’ll have Fifth Harmony definitely this year because they’ve got an album coming out. It will be fantastic to have them on the show.”
With regards to One Direction, Simon Cowell, unfortunately, admitted that the boyband is far from ending their hiatus anytime soon. “One Direction I don’t think we’ll see as a group for a while now if I’m being honest with you,” he said. “But the girls [Fifth Harmony], definitely.”
Does this mean the group has officially called it quits? One Direction is currently on an extended “hiatus,” which began earlier this year. And while Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan kept assuring their fans that they are not going to disband, it’s been rumored that the band has officially broken up.
Mirror reported that Zayn Malik left One Direction back in March 2015 to focus on a solo career and caused quite a stir in the process. After his decision to move on from the group, it appears that the remaining band members followed his lead by wanting to do something on their own as well.
Harry Styles is now developing his acting career, Niall Horan is experimenting with some solo music, Louis Tomlinson is busy being a dad to baby Freddy, and Liam Payne is spending most of his time with girlfriend, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.
