Louis Tomlinson might just be the next “X Factor” judge. Is he getting ready to leave his band One Direction?
According to Mail Online, the One Direction heartthrob has been asked to be a judge on the UK-based singing competition. Citing a report by The Sun, the online news site called Tomlinson’s judging debut a “done deal.”
“Louis Tomlinson is very likely to replace Grimmy [Nick Grimshaw]. He agreed in principle to the job while assisting Simon Cowell during the Judges’ Houses round last year,” a source was quoted as saying.
An “X Factor” rep earlier confirmed that Season 12 judge Grimshaw is exiting the show. Tomlinson also served as Cowell’s assistant judge in the show’s most recent season.
According to Inquisitr, Tomlinson “will probably take this offer.” The singer, Inquisitr suggests, could consider the judging stint “an exciting opportunity to work.”
“No decisions have been taken about the new series of The X Factor. Discussions are ongoing and details will be announced in due course,” a rep meanwhile told Mail Online.
Will Tomlinson be the next judge for the Boys category? Or will he take over the Groups category? If he does become an “X Factor” judge, will he leave One Direction for good?
The lads were first brought together at the music competition show. They finished in third place in 2010.
Rumours of a split have been hounding the band since Zayn Malik left early last year. It was previously reported that Tomlinson was upset with his band mates. He reportedly felt “betrayed” because none of his mates came to visit when his son, Freddie was born.
However, according to Inquisitr, Liam Payne recently paid Tomlinson a visit. Tomlinson and Payne were reportedly working on the band’s new songs. It was earlier suggested that Freddie will be their next album’s muse.
