Fans of One Direction went a little crazy recently after new photographs of Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles have surfaced online.

Fans speculated that the two had split from the band and formed their own group. Although this is just speculation, rumours about the band’s split has not die down since Zayn Malik’s departure a year ago.

According to UnrealityTV, it was Teen Now who first shared the images of the two, which were from a photoshoot of the band back in 2011. During this year, Harry and Louis shared a flat in London and were just getting used to their newfound fame, after making it to the X Factor finals.

The photos have been tweeted by fans since.  UnrealityTV noted that fans were thrilled to see Styles and Tomlinson together since it was rare to get the two in the same picture unless they were in a band shots. Rumours of falling out between the two singers started when speculations of romance between them surfaced.

One Direction is currently on a hiatus. However, even the band mentor, Simon Cowell, admitted that he is unsure whether 1D’s hiatus is just temporary or it’s already a complete breakup.

“I don’t know if it’s a hiatus or a breakup, to be honest,” Cowell revealed in his new Billboard cover story.

He also admitted that he doesn’t even want to know what is store in the future for  Tomlinson, Styles, Liam Payne and Niall Horan.

“In a weird way, I don’t want to know. I don’t think they’ve had enough time to experience what it’s like not being in the group to really answer that,” he added.

As for the rest of the band’s solo plans, Cowell does not deny that Harry Styles is working on new material. “He’ll work out what kind of record he wants to make because he’s got great taste — which is always a help,” he said. “All the writers and producers want to work with him, understandably, but he probably won’t rush into it.”

Cowell’s Billboard cover will be out in newsstand on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Hollywood Take reported that the hashtag #1YearWithoutZayn trended on Twitter on March 25, as One Direction fans remembered the day Malik left 1D. Coincidentally, Malik released his first solo record, “Mind Of Mine,” at midnight.
