One Direction Bankrupt? 2016 Hiatus Due to $55M Profit Loss?

Fans shed gallons of tears when One Direction announced their indefinite hiatus during their “On The Road” tour. Amid the sad news is the untold reason for the temporary breakup. A report disclosed the boyband had faced bankruptcy with an estimated $55 million profit loss.

Inquistr notes that the news has been focusing on their post-1D experiences like Harry Styles’ alleged solo career and Louis Tomlinson’s fatherhood to baby Sydney Rain while the real cause of their split was never discussed. It has been said the boy band did not get as much money last year.

According to Forbes, One Direction’s profits was tallied at $130 million which was based on the group’s income in 2014. However, they only made roughly $75 million the following. This suggests that they have a deficit of $55 million. Still, One Direction was ranked at no. 7 out in the list of highest paid musicians.

The site also speculated that it was the main reason Zayn Malik left the lads in March 2015 to pursue a solo musical journey. However, the claims about heading to the bankruptcy were not proven so far.

Meanwhile, Mirror reports that 1D can still maintain its monetary track by the success of fellow group 5 Seconds of Summer.

“[One Direction] own a 50-percent stake in [5SOS’s] profits with a 10-percent share each in the company,” the report reveals.

In other news, directors Cal Aurand and Ben Winston revealed something about Malik’s appearance in One Direction’s newest music video “History” which has been trending on the Internet since its launch recently.

“Originally they ran in separate directions and then they ran back together and that’s actually how it was planned … I think ultimately it’s just an end to a video. There shouldn’t be anything applied deeper than that,” explained the directors via MTV.
