Following Robin Hood’s sacrifice in the previous episode of Once Upon a Time Season 5, there are concerns that Regina may turn evil again. Actress Lana Parrilla shares what she knows so far about her heartbroken character.
“It’s going to take more than the loss of a boyfriend for Regina to regress. It’s going to take more than just his death to cross back over to the dark side,” Parrilla tells Entertainment Weekly. However, Parrilla teases that Regina’s internal struggle will continue and Robin’s death might affect how she handles her “evil tendencies and impulses.”
In the two-hour Once Upon a Time Season 5 finale Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Regina team up to prevent Henry (Jared Gilmore) from destroying all magic.
“Magic isn’t all evil. Unfortunately for Henry, that’s all he’s experienced for the most part. Magic has killed so many and he just wants to put an end to all of this,” Parrilla shares.
Lana Parrilla also reveals that viewers will see a softer, more vulnerable side of Regina. There will be a scene where Emma and Regina share their deepest thoughts and fears with one another. It’s a rare confessional for Regina, and she opens up “in a way that we’ve never seen.”
Although Regina has lost her great love, Parrilla explains that her character’s version of a “happy ending” is not the typical romantic kind.
“My happy ending is finally feeling at peace with the world,” she shares.
Meanwhile, the final episode of Once Upon a Time Season 5 will focus on the internal struggles of the Storybrooke heroes. According to International Business Times, however, Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) will return to the world of the living after having been left behind in the Underworld.
Robin’s funeral will also take place, and the characters will stand by Regina to help her deal with her grief.
The Once Upon a Time Season 5 finale will air on May 15, Sunday.
