Vampire Diaries has a new character to introduce on its upcoming season 8 and actress Kristen Gutoskie is going to play the role.

Gutoskie will play the role of Seline. Spoiler TV described Seline’s character as “a warm, nurturing nanny of two young kids by day, and a small-town girl trying to find her place in a dangerous world by night. The site added that Seline has a close bond to her new “family” in ways she herself ca not explain. Fans will also see her fight to protect the ones she loves.

Gutoskie is best known for playing Katie Frank in “Containment.” The CW series was not renewed for second two and set to air its series finale on July 19. She previously had a regular role on “Beaver Falls” and also had a recurring role on “Republic of Doyle,” Deadline noted.

Is Seline going to be Damon Salvatore’s new love interest? Is she going to be Elena‘s rival when Nina Dobrev’s character comes back in season 8? Dobrev’s return has been teased in the finale of the previous season.

Based on Gutoskie’s character description, Seline will most likely look after the Gemini twins in the eight installment of “Vampire Diaries,” Inquisitr noted.  The TVD new character also has similarities to Gutoskie’s role in “Containment.” The actress portrayed Katie, a mother and a grade-school teacher who will do everything to keep the children safe.

The Inquisitr wrote that since Stefan (Paul Wesley), Caroline (Candice King), and Bonnie (Kat Graham) are trying their best to locate Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey), Alaric (Matt Davis) may probably join the search. If he does, Seline might be the one who will look after the Gemini twins.

The site noted that not just anyone can take care of Caroline and Alaric’s children since they have extraordinary powers. It would have to be someone who is willing protect them at all cost, but who could also understand the risks that comes with being around of children like the Gemini twins.

Gutoskie will launch her recurring role as Seline in the first episode of TVD’s eight season.

“Vampire Diaries” is set to premiere on Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. ET on CW.
