An image showing a Glock handgun that was given a makeover to  bear the color scheme from the classic Nintendo Zapper has since circulated on the Internet and became viral. The Zapper is a light gun accessory for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

The Nintendo Zapper was popularized in the ’80s as it was used for the classic video game “Duck Hunt” and “Wild Gunman.” But the gun manufacturer who made the custom gun similar to the Zapper was hit by criticisms on the internet. IGN reported the news about the criticisms.

Texas-based gun manufacturer, Precision Syndicate was the one who created the custom gun and shared it on social networking site Facebook. The post has been shared for more than 150,000 times and has garnered around 8,000 comments at the time of this posting.

There are some comments that praised the customisation; however, a lot of the comments were also directed at complaining about the gun.

Some criticised the custom weapon as it promotes violence and could be used to harm people while others say that people might think that the real gun is just a toy and could be used to fool other people.

After the flood of negative remarks,  the company has finally responded to the criticisms on the gun.

“In light of the ‘Nintendo Glock’ drama, we feel that the media and our fans need to know that this firearm will not be mass produced nor will it ever be. This is a one off custom build for a friend of ours. Do to the thousands of emails and messages we have received in the past 2 days we have been unable to contact everyone in a timely manner, please be patient we will get to you as soon as possible.
