Nike is about to release its latest Kevin Durant signature shoes – the Nike KD 8 Elite – on Thursday (April 14).
The white colorway of Nike KD 8 Elite will be released first, amid mixed reviews from fans over its unorthodox design, TheBitBag wrote. The other colorways will debut next month – grey on May 5 and black on May 26.
On its official website, Nike wrote the KD8 Elite has built-in, crew-length compression sock to enhance support. It also has full-length visible Nike Zoom Air cushioning for a responsive ride and flywire technology with Kevlar ® aramid fiber for superior lockdown.
Nike added that Kevin Durant and designer Leo Chang worked together on the new shoes and embraced the performance of the standard KD 8 but re-imagining it with several technological upgrades.
“Transitioning from a low to high is a decision we made with confidence based on our ongoing feedback from Durant to always push the limit on innovative design,” said Chang.
“The KD8 Elite is conceptually designed to blur the lines between the shoe, sock and tight; seamlessly transitioning between each so you can’t differentiate where one begins and the other ends,” he added.
According to NikeBlog, the built-in ankle compression sleeve provides additional lockdown, while the non-stretch woven materials ensure a snug fit and the foam provides protection and comfort.
The Kevlar aramid fiber has been added to the Flywire strands for enhanced durability and lockdown. The shoe also carries over the perfection of the standard KD 8 with full-length visible Zoom Air cushioning.
Kicks on Fire describe the first Nike KD 8 Elite colorway to be released as “dressed in a white upper contrasted by the navy blue hits found on the branding of the shoe such as on the forefoot and on the actual sock-like construction. KD branding in the same tonal fashion is also found on the side panels and on the icy translucent outsole.”
The KD8 Elite white colorway is available at nike.com and selected retail locations starting Thursday for $200.
