Here’s more low-down on the much awaited Nexus 5 and 6, expected to arrive with the latest treat from Google – Android Marshmallow.
It is known that this time around Google has come together with not one but two manufacturers, LG and Huawei for the upcoming Nexus phones. The Nexus 5 2015, a smaller variant is to be taken cared by LG, while the Nexus 6 — a phablet version of sorts of — would come manufactured by Huawei.
Many are expecting Google to make the announcements pertaining to the new Nexus lineup at an event to be held in San Francisco on September 29. And now comes the news that while the devices will be launched on September 29, both the phone would be going-up for pre-order on October 13. A source shared the pre-order date with Talk Android, but the site has not received word on the shipping date.
As rightly noted, if October 13 indeed happens to be the day the phones can be pre-ordered then the devices should be shipped within 1-3 weeks after the said date.
Android Geek also anticipates that it could be around October 13 that Android 6.0 M updates become available for Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 as well as Nexus 9. While fans may have to wait before they can get their hands on the final version Android M, a Developer Preview is now available for download here.
As noted by the site, the transition to Android M on Nexus 5, 6 and 9 may not seem as major as it did when Android Lollipop landed, but most definitely fans can enjoy really neat features including app data backup done automatically, Google Now on Tap and even improved battery life amongst others. Google had shared that the focus with its Android 6.0 will be on app permissions, web experience, app links, mobile payments, fingerprint support as well as power and charging.
It should be noted that there is no confirmation on the either, the September 29 event or the pre-order date for Nexus 5 2015 and Nexus 6. The Android M download date should also be taken with a grain of salt. But it is being widely accepted that September 29 would be the D-day for Android fans. Keep coming back for more updates on the upcoming Nexus lineup.
