Is the next James Bond Tom Hiddleston? After seeing him taking on some diverse acting roles, many are convinced that he could be the best fit to replace Daniel Craig as 007.
While a lot are clamoring to see Hiddleston take on what could be his biggest role yet, it wouldn’t be an easy decision as execs have reportedly short-listed a few notable names to play the iconic spy. Previous reports have already confirmed that Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Theo James and Aidan Turner are also being considered for the role.
Hiddleston could be the next James Bond, but a new report from Entertainment.ie has explored the possibilities on why the iconic role could do more harm than good for the actor’s career. According to the report, Hiddleston should turn down the opportunity because ” he’s better than Bond.”
“While it may be one of the longest-running franchises in studio history, Bond has run out of steam,” the report added. “Short of realigning the character so completely as to create something different entirely, there’s nothing Tom Hiddleston can bring to the table that will make him seem relevant.”
As for “The Night Manager” star, he has yet to be excited about the overwhelming support. In a previous interview, Hiddleston dished on being the new Bond and a lot more.
“It is a national obsession to talk about who should be the next James Bond,” the actor told The Hollywood Reporter. “Everyone has an opinion about it basically. My belief is that Daniel Craig will do many, many more. As far as I’m concerned, he is James Bond.”
>The actor then proceeded to compare his role in “The Night Manager” with the iconic 007 agent. “I actually think that there’s a lot that divides them,” he continued. “Bond is a trained killer with a 00 license to kill, and Pine is at the beginning of his relationship with the Secret Service. I think in Daniel Craig’s incarnation, Bond has become much darker, more haunted by his responsibilities in a way. I think Pine has always had that.”
