The next James Bond could still be Daniel Craig, as the actor seemed to express a change of heart towards reprising his role as 007 in the spy movie series.
Buzz was rife after his earlier comments on slashing his wrists rather than playing the superspy again. Moreover, his commitment to the Showtime TV series Purity led to speculations about who would take over as the next James Bond.
Indeed, the names on the rumored list of MGM includes some of the finest actors ever to grace the big screen. Although many speculate that the studio still counts Daniel Craig as its first choice for the role. Nonetheless, it would seem they have a backup plan once the actor finally makes up his mind on the matter.
Then again, even Showtime CEO David Nivens expressed confidence over Craig’s return to the franchise. Well, as long as the James Bond production would be willing to wait for the actor after Purity. Yet it would appear everyone’s fears about his exit from the iconic role of James Bond were premature. Apparently, the actor himself would miss the job tremendously. Does this mean he has reconsidered his stance on playing 007 for the fifth time?
“As far as I’m concerned, I’ve got the best job in the world. I’ll keep doing it as long as I still get a kick out of it… If I were to stop doing it, I would miss it terribly,” Daniel Craig said at the recent New Yorker Festival. Apparently, the timing was quite off when the question of doing another film as 007 came up according to Screen Crush. Back then, production had just ended and he had been away from his family for so long, hence his remarks about slashing his wrists.
To date, Daniel Craig has starred in four Bond films under the movie franchise. His recent starrer Spectre last 2015 raked in over US$880 million globally.
