Daniel Craig is not returning as James Bond and the hashtag #NextBond has been trending on Twitter to suggest names to play the next agent. Guess whose name popped up? Go away Tom Hiddleston as it will be Jane Bond this time with “X-Files” star Gillian Anderson in the lead.
Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston, and other James Bond wannabes can take a hike. Jane Bond is here. Responding to an online fan campaign, the “X-Files” actress retweeted a fan poster showing her as the famous British agent.
“It’s Bond. Jane Bond. Thanks for all the votes! (And sorry, don’t know who made poster but I love it!) #NextBond,” says her tweet. Gillian Anderson has been a favourite so far and fans are pitching for the actress to fill in the shoes left empty by Daniel Craig, states Entertainment Weekly.

Other actors who have shown an interest in playing the role or who have been considered for the part include Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba. ANN reported that Henry Cavill might be interested and a Boyle Sports survey indicated that Tom Hardy might make a fine MI7 agent too.
All this is just speculation as Movie Web reports that there has been no announcement that Craig has indeed said no to bag loads of money and the next two Bond films. However, amongst all the actors, it is Tom Hiddleston who seems to be a frontrunner for the role if Craig really doesn’t come back. The publication elaborates that bookies have stopped taking bets on him as the odds are in his favour.
However, if the publication goes by what it sees and hears on the social media, then Hiddleston might not make the cut. According to NY Daily, Anderson’s or Elba’s casting would result in a major breakdown of barriers as James Bond has never been a girl and has been a white male for around 50 years so far.
