Has “New Mutants” really been cancelled? It has been a year since the movie was announced. Should fans stop waiting for its release?
According to Cinema Blend, there might still be hope. The movie’s director, Josh Boone, posted the front page of the “New Mutants” script on Instagram earlier this week. His caption for the post is what makes the fans going crazy about. “Cover of a certain script [Knate Lee] and I turned in last night to [Simon Kinberg] #newmutants.” Boone also said the script they submitted was their second draft. This could only mean that the movie is still a go at this point.
Meanwhile, another Marvel movie about mutants will be released soon. It was earlier reported that “X Men: Apocalypse” would pave the way for a “larger [cinematic] universe.” The upcoming movie will introduce a powerful mutant, Apocalypse. And, according to Movie Pilot, his appearance on the big screen might signify greater things.
“The introduction of a character…that could have powers rooted from another world…could be the beginning of a larger story Bryan Singer is getting ready to tell…a heavy galactic masterpiece that could…span across a new trilogy.” Movie Pilot suggested. Could “New Mutants” tie into the speculated new trilogy? No word as of yet to confirm this. Stay tuned for updates.
“X Men: Apocalypse” is set to hit the big screen on May 27.
“New Mutants” might not have been cancelled but it is still uncertain when it will eventually be released. Boone has three upcoming movie projects, aside from this Marvel adaptation. Boone will take on two Stephen King classics, “Reviva” and “The Stand.” He is also set to direct a reboot of Anne Rice’s “The Vampire Chronicles.” The movie “New Mutants” will be based on the Marvel comic book series by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod.
