The New James Bond: ‘Thor 3’ Tom Hiddleston vs ‘Superman’ Henry Cavill

Who will the next James Bond be? Names are being thrown around ever since Daniel Craig famously claimed he’d rather slash his wrists than play 007 again. The first actor making the buzz for this is “Thor’s” Loki, Tom Hiddleston. Now, everyone is wondering if “Superman” Henry Cavill also has what it takes to be an MI7 agent.

It all started when Cavill appeared on BBC’s “The Graham Norton Show,” informs Independent. Henry Cavill was present with his “Batman V Superman” co-stars Ben Affleck and Amy Adams on the comedian’s chat show to promote the movie. He was asked whether he would like to play the role of James Bond if approached by the producers.

“I’m very busy with the Superman stuff, but if there were any windows and they wanted me to do that kind of role, it would be great,” said Cavill. “I would love to do it,” he added. However, when prodded if he was ‘greedy’ for wanting to portray both Superman and James Bond, Cavill remarked, “Greedy or awesome?”

According to Radio Times, Cavill joins the long list of actors tipped to play the legendary British secret agent. These include the likes of Aidan Turner, Idris Elba, Damien Lewis, and the highly talked about Tom Hiddleston.

“The Night Manager” star, on the other hand, got Bond fans in a frenzy when he ordered a vodka martini during the show’s finale, states Daily Mail. His character, Jonathon Pine, can be heard asking for the signature drink, saying, “Excuse me, sir? Can I have a vodka martini please?” In fact, the buzz around Hiddleston being the next Bond picked up since “The Night Manager” hit the TV screens. Fans have even launched an online campaign for him to become the next James Bond.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the actor explained the buzz on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “I play a British spy in The Night Manager, so people I think have made the link,” Hiddleston explained. “I mean, as somebody who grew up with Sean Connery and Roger Moore, when you mention it, there’s a part of me that goes, ‘Really? Are you kidding?’” he added.

ANN had reported that the “Thor 3” star had expressed his interest in playing the iconic role. He had told Sunday Times that being a fan of the series, and aware of the physicalities, he would not take the role lightly.
