Predictions about the new James Bond have not stopped pouring-in and fans seem to be enjoying it all. Now, more speculations over who will be the next torchbearer have surfaced.
Earlier reports have hinted at actors right from Tom Hardy to Michael Fassbender to Idris Elba as the potentials to play the suave and deadly spy. However, according to Sunday Mirror, Damian Lewis could be the man to bag the role if Daniel decides to quit Bond films.
A “well-placed source” shared with Sunday Mirror, “If Daniel Craig leaves, it’s Damian Lewis who will be crowned the new Bond. He is seen as an all-round international star who is perfect for the role. As he ages, he looks increasingly suave and sophisticated.”
Speculations about who will be the next Bond began to surface when the current 007, Daniel Craig, indicated that Spectre — set to be released in November — may be his last.
As per reports, Daniel said, “At this moment, no. I have a life and I’ve got to get on with it a bit. But we’ll see.”
This was certainly enough to let all the rumors and speculations begin. As it turns out, Damian also has given his “unofficial nod” to be the first choice in case Daniel decides to officially move on from James Bond roles.
As noted by the Daily Mail, Pierce Brosnan, Daniel’s predecessor, recently commented about the new Bond. Brosnan said, “he’ll be male and he’ll be white,” as envisioned by Ian Fleming when he penned down the now-renowned character.
For all we know, Daniel may continue with the franchise by being part of the next project as well. It remains to be seen for now, until we hear an official word. Bond fans should keep checking back for more news on their favorite franchise.
