Is Michael Weatherly coming back in NCIS Season 14?
The actor has admitted that he misses his fellow NCIS co-stars. Weatherly left the CBS long-running procedural drama after the Season 13 finale. He did not leave the network though. Weatherly now stars in new series Bull which premiered last Tuesday.
“I love those guys and I miss them and we’re very connected. I think it’s great that we’re on [the] schedule together because it’s one fluid evening for CBS,” Weatherly admitted.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Weatherly’s former NCIS co-star Emily Wickersham called and the two ended up Facetiming. She said NCIS Season 14 is looking great even after Weatherly left but also confessed that they do miss the actor on set.
Weatherly played the charming very Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo since NCIS premiered in 2003. DiNozzo resigned from his post in NCIS to raise his daughter with Ziva David, who died in a terror attack.
Weatherly said when he made up his mind about leaving NCIS, he made sure that DiNozzo’s fans would understand his decision. The actor previously revealed when he first decided to leave NCIS, he was just looking for a change. The actor added he never thought that his next project would be another drama series.
The Hollywood Reporter noted that Weatherly stays in constant communication with his former co-stars. He even spent time FaceTiming with NCIS newcomer actor Wilmer Valderrama, who replaced him on the show.
So is Weatherly coming back in NCIS Season 14? Probably not. Bull lived up to the expectations and garnered 2.2 ratings and 15.5 million total viewers, closely behind NCIS’ 15.6 million viewership.
Should DiNozzo come back to NCIS, it could be a guest appearance. Fans are expecting at least a Weatherly cameo when his character’s BFF, Agent Tim McGee (Sean Murray) ties the knot with his long-time girlfriend Delilah (Margo Harshman). A McGee-Delilah wedding has been teased to happen this season.
