NCIS fans may be having a difficult time adjusting to the fact that their favourite Michael Weatherly will soon be leaving the show. And of course, to replace such a personality that made everyone fall in love with agent Tony DiNozzo, showrunners are bringing in two special agents.
As noted by CinemaBlend, British actor Duane Henry of “Doctors” fame is coming onboard and will be seen in Season 13 final episodes. He has been tasked with portraying an MI-6 officer, Clayton Reeves. While fans may believe no one can replace the character DiNozzo, Clayton Reeves could probably have what it takes with his swagger, sense-of-humour and of course the steely determination that has got him this far in the game.
The Hollywood Reporter shared showrunner Gary Glasberg’s comments, “We think we found something really special in Duane Henry. His unique blend of charm, heart and athletic physicality is going to be a great addition to the mix. Everyone at NCIS is excited to have him join us.”
And you are probably digging for information on “24” alum Sarah Clarke, who will be joined by Henry, to play the new FBI special agent. And of course, both stars will have the opportunity to become regular in Season 14. Henry has also appeared in “Law & Order: UK” as well as “Doctor Who” and has a “BAFTA’s Screen Nation Award for best emerging talent in 2010” to his credit. It will be interesting to see what the two new characters bring to the show and how the series takes off from here without Tony DiNozzo in the picture.
It was in January that Weatherly made the announcement that the current season being his last. But the future for the show which keeps viewers at the edge of their seats, is looking good since its been picked up for two more seasons this February.
Catch “NCIS” on Tuesday nights on CBS.
