It turns out that the Celtic trade rumors concerning Russell Westbrook, Blake Griffin and DeMarcus could be false after all. According to reports, the most likely trade for Boston is one involving Philadelphia’s Jahlil Okafor.

An assistant general manager told that making trades is not that easy. Ultimately, Jahlil Okafor, a 6-foot-11 Philadelphia 76ers center from Duke, is seen as the best pick among the roster of great players.

“From the moment Philly drafted Ben, everyone around the league knew that they would have to trade big, either Okafor or Nerlens (Noels),” an NBA scout told “Okafor is the better scorer; it’s not even close really. But Nerlens has that ability to run the floor and can protect the rim. Those two qualities … you can’t have enough guys in the frontcourt who call those two skills, strengths. That’s why Okafor is the more expendable player.”

A league official also said that Ofakor could help Boston. However, this does not mean that the 20-year-old is the player who can make the team better. Apparently, Ofakor is good but not someone who can really make a huge impact.

Okafor was the third overall pick last year. Despite this, some say that Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge could still look for another player as they consider Ofakor inferior to Westbrook, Griffin and Cousins.

Ofakor also had off-the-court problems last season when he got into a fighting incident in Boston after the Sixers lost to the Celtics.  This would make taking Ofakor too risky but Ainge is known to take a chance on a player.

As of now, Ainge is biding his time and waiting for the right opportunity to catch the biggest fish that no one expects, according to a league official.
