The Cleveland Cavaliers will host the Washington Wizards in their NBA campaign at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland on Friday, March 4, starting 8 PM ET.
The Wizards are not sighing away from the challenge. Especially facing a Cleveland Cavaliers team without LeBron James earlier this week, notes the official NBA source. The visiting team is seeking a “season-high fifth consecutive win” to propel them towards the play-offs berth.
“I think this year it’s more the healthiest we’ve been. I think that’s the main reason,” coach Randy Wittman said of his team’s surge.
The Wizards have taken their record to 30-30 as they have managed to average 108.3 points and 50.8 percent shooting in winning “two of three match-ups this season”, notes NBA.
The Cavaliers with a 42-17 record, did manage to stage a comeback in Monday’s 100-96 win over Indiana. As per the Cavs.com, Cleveland already holds the “best home record in the Eastern Conference this season at 25-5 (3rd-best in NBA)”.
“We showed some mental toughness,” James said. “We were able to keep our composure, get some stops, make some shots and win the ballgame.”
The visiting team will find it difficult to challenge the Cavaliers in their own backyard. But John Wall could give Cleveland a hard time, as he is “averaging 25.3 points and 11.7 assists” in the season series.
James did return to score 33 points in 37 minutes against Indiana. It will be interesting to see how he performs in the weekend match-up ahead.
The NBA sources also note that Beal and Nene’s return have improved the depth. They have also capitalised on the acquisition of Markieff Morris at the trade deadline.
