Michael Jordan is one, if not THE greatest of all time. And he recently showed he is the GOAT, beating a much younger NBA star in a shoot around. But it isn’t just any other NBA star, MJ beat the 2015 Most Improved Player of the league.
Over the weekend, His Airness was present at one of his Michael Jordan Flight School’s camp to oversee the camp, teach kids and inspire them to reach their dreams. With him was the Jordan Brand’s newest brand ambassador, Jimmy Butler. And in the spirit of basketball camps, the two played a quick shootout with two young campers.
A video of the contest made its way online, but didn’t show much of MJ’s round of shots. However, the clip was enough to prove that Jordan still has his sick jumper on lock, sinking a buzzer beater three and ultimately beating Butler in the game. The current Chicago Bulls shooting guard also missed two perimeter shots and one three-pointer.
“Based on the video, it appears that Jordan’s team won the contest, as the announcer pointed to Jordan after Butler’s final shot,” Bleacher Report noted. In addition, the kids in the camp, as well as Butler’s reaction suggest he lost to the Hall of Famer who is 27 years his senior.
“Butler shouldn’t feel too bad, though. He faced a living legend. There’s no shame in coming up short in that battle,” Bleacher Reports added.
Butler is one of Jordan Brand’s newest signees. Previously with Adidas, the Bulls star revealed that he had rolled his ankles a few times with the German brand which made him decide to join Jordan.
“I’m not bashing Adidas at all, but I got turf toe one year and rolled my ankles a few times. That’s never happened, whenever I was at Marquette with Jordan or before that, with Nike. So I thought maybe I should go back to that shoe. And then Jordan picked me up,” Butler told GQ, quotes NiceKicks.
As for the Michael Jordan Flight School, the camp will run from July 31 to August 4 for boys and from August 5 to 9 for both boys and girls.
