The Los Angeles Clippers will be taking on Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Hornets in their second game versus the Hornets, scheduled for Wednesday at 5 a.m. PT in China. The Clippers touched down in Shanghai on Sunday night for their preseason game.
Chris Paul, who suffered a minor fracture in his finger, is delighted to be in Shanghai. NBA.com quoted him as saying, “The fans have always been so grateful here to me in China.”
Paul added, “It’s always a lot of fun. I’m very familiar. My wife came with me last summer, she’s here with me again this time, so I know my way around a little bit now.”
On one side, both Paul and Austin Rivers are recovering from their injuries as the team is concerned about the duo. Austin suffered five broken teeth following an accidental elbow from Branden Dawson. However, Clipperholics noted that both of them were present in the team’s practice session on Tuesday morning, which is a good sign.
On the other side, Michael Jordan would like to capitalize on Jeremy Lin’s inclusion in the team as the Asian-American will definitely boost their popularity in Shanghai.
Jordan praised Lin ahead of their game vs the Clippers and stated, “We just got Jeremy Lin, who I think is going to be our biggest acquisition. His penetration, his shooting capability, his point guard savvy, he can really pass the basketball, his energy about the game of basketball something.”
The Clippers are looking to get their rhythm back after their loss in Shenzhen. After their lacklustre performance in the preseason game, Paul commented, “We know we have the talent. We know we have the ability. Now we’ve just got to put it all together. There are no excuses for our team. We have to play harder, we have to play better. We talked about it, coach discussed it in practice, and we’ll try to clean up those things.”
Hornets vs Clippers at 5 A.M. PT / 8 A.M. ET on Oct. 14.
