Dallas Mavericks will take on the Los Angeles Clippers on Oct. 29, Thursday at the Staples Center. It might be a little awkward for DeAndre Jordan playing the Mavericks at home as he spurned the Mavericks back in July in free agency after a five-day commitment, as per the Los Angeles Times report.
The 6’11 Jordan was linked to the Mavericks following a four year agreement of $80 million back in July, but later changed his heart and dumped the offer. Maverick’s owner Mark Cuban had refused to accept Jordan’s apology on Twitter. Clippers coach Doc Rivers jokingly said he would like to tussle Mark Cuban in a cage after he disparaged Rivers.
Diverting the focus away from the conflict, Jordan commented, “We play Sacramento. That’s all I’m concerned about.” Jordan will see the Mavericks for the first time after that episode.
He certainly loves playing with the Clippers. The Clippers had signed a four year deal with Jordan worth $87 million. The Official NBA website posted, “Jordan had eight points, 12 rebounds and four blocks in his first game with the Clippers under his new contract.”
He seemed emotionally attached to the team and that is evident from his optimistic start with the Clippers. The source quoted him as saying, “The most emotional part of the whole entire process was when I decided I was going to stay because I knew I had to upset and let down a whole different fan base, that definitely got to me.”
“The Mavericks had a great presentation, a great owner, a great coach, a championship team, but at the same time, I felt like I didn’t give it all of my thought. At the end of the day, we’re basketball players, these great athletes, but we’re also human and we make mistakes.”
Stay tuned for the interesting contest.
