Blake Griffin is a dunk king, but his recent slam was far too good to be true! Well, technically it wasn’t real, but we’ll take it.
Griffin was the star of a recent advertisement by Jordan Brand for its newest basketball shoe, the Jordan Super.Fly 4. The ad showcased the 2013 NBA Slam Dunk champion’s sick leaping ability and crazy dunking skills. However, he wasn’t the only one on court doing his thing, Looney Tunes’ Marvin the Martian was also present.
“Griffin and Marvin recently had a confrontation on the court, and the Lob City star suggested they settle their beef with a dunk contest,” Bleacher Report described of the face off.
The two exchanged slams and until Marvin brought out his ultimate slam dunk weapon — he shot martians out of his basketball and jumped over them.
“I can’t compete with that. I’m just a super talented human,” quipped Blake. That is until his Jordan Super.Fly 4 pair was delivered by Bugs Bunny himself. Could this ad get any better?
Griffin’s answer to Marvin’s jam? A dunk from the free throw line.
The other free throw line.
The Jordan Super.Fly 4 is the brand’s newest basketball masterpiece. It features an external TPU heel counter for support and stability, webbed straps integrated to the laces for ultimate lockdown, and FlightSpeed technology that boosts energy to elevate the game.
The pair which was officially released in the US yesterday, August 5, came with the “Marvin the Martian” colorway, featuring the colors “Black/ Bright Crimson- Electric Green”.
“Marvin the Martian is out to destroy Earth again, and with the release of the Super.Fly 4, he may have finally found his secret weapon,” Nike wrote.
The pair retails for $150 in any Nike and Jordan outlets.
As for the ad, called “The Dunk to End All Dunks”, it’s almost reminiscent of “Space Jam” which could hint on a possible “Space Jam 2”?
