Nancy Dow, Jennifer Aniston’s mother, has died following a lingering condition, a statement from the “Cake” actress said.
“It is with great sadness that my brother John and I announce the passing of our mother, Nancy Dow. She was 79 years old and passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends,” the statement to People read.
The actress also asked the public to give the family privacy as they mourn her passing.
Jennifer Aniston and Nancy Dow’s relationship has been shaky, at best. But they really had a falling out after the “Mother and Daughter to Friends” book written by the former model in 1999. As a result, the 47-year-old actress shunned out her mother to her own wedding to Brad Pitt a year later, said the report from Us Magazine.
In contrast, Jennifer Aniston has a great relationship with her father, former soap opera actor John Aniston.
Back in January, in an extensive interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Aniston confirmed that growing up with her mother wasn’t always easy, and that led to a friction between them which took years to resolve. During the time of the interview, Jennifer Aniston said that her relationship with Nancy Dow was fine, although there were many years when their communication totally stopped. The main thing about her mother was her temper, and her being “very critical.”
“Because she was a model, she was gorgeous, stunning,” she said. “I wasn’t. I never was. I honestly still don’t think of myself in that sort of light, which is fine. She was also very unforgiving. She would hold grudges that I just found so petty.”
Nevertheless, Jennifer Aniston insisted that she holds no grudge against anybody, Nancy Dow included, because it’s just her nature to be forgiving and understanding. In fact, she credited her parents for giving her the lessons that have guided her through the years. This includes taking the time to slow down and just enjoy life.
