It was one of the biggest fashion events for Australia when Myer showcased its 2016 Autumn collection yesterday. The runway bonanza was led by Myer ambassadors Miss Universe 2004 Jennifer Hawkins and international supermodel Shanina Shaik.
News.com.au informs that Myer went in for a “limited invites only” event instead of a big bang launch. Around 100 handpicked guests were invited for a black tie dinner at the exclusive Barangaroo Reserve in Sydney. The who’s who of the industry sipped on some Mumm Cordon Rouge NV Champagne and a selection of vintage wines and dined on an exclusive four course menu catered by Cook & Waiter.
Barangaroo’s minimalist sandstone façade offered an appropriately dramatic setting for around 30 models to showcase around 100 top new season looks. These were designed by 15 leading Aussie designers.
Myer’s edgy event reached a high point with two fashion moments. First, models from Sass and Bide, hit the runway on bicycles wearing heels. Second during Maticevski finale when the models were kissed with falling rain. It was symbolic of the approaching autumnal months, reveals Daily Mail.
Hawkins and Shaik wore striking creations from the Maticevski collection. Hawkins closed the show in a strapless, flowing bright orange frock with pink lining. Shaik, on the other hand, showcased a white creation.
The fashion show was also an occasion for Myer to officially welcome designer Georgia Alice to its fashion stable. Other designers who showcased at this elite fashion gathering were Alex Perry, Aje, Sass and Bide, WHITE SUEDE, Peter Pilotto, MSGM, Balmain, Oscar de la Renta and Self Portrait.
Shanina Shaik told Daily Mail about her being ‘really excited’ about the new collection. “It’s [the show] definitely going to be a show stopper. It’s something different but something really exciting, I love it. It’s going to be exciting for everyone to see,” she said.
