MTV VMA 2016: How Rihanna Won the Night Over Beyonce and Britney Spears?

MTV VMA 2016

MTV VMA 2016 ended the night jam-packed with performances, surprises and moments for fans and celebrities. Beyonce took home the Video of the Year Award while Britney Spears had her epic comeback. Meanwhile, Rihanna proved everyone why she deserves the Video Vanguard Award.

Rihanna kicked off the night with a medley performance featuring her hit songs We Found Love and Where Have You Been. Every fan lauded her but it was only the beginning of her smash hit performance.

In her second performance, Rihanna put on her dance mode on. Several backup dancers joined her medley of Pon de Replay, What’s My Name, Rude Boy and Work.

The last song, however, could have been more special if Drizzy joined her. Apparently, it seemed Drake was still stuck in traffic.

When Beyonce hit up the stage, she blew the minds of the fans with her epic performance. Her songs, Pray You Catch Me, Don’t Hurt Yourself, Sorry and Formation made one fan claim that it “slayed everyone’s life”. She was definitely the Queen, most fans claimed.

Britney Spears, on the other hand, wanted all eyes on her following Beyonce’s epic performance. She performed alongside G-Eazy for a fiery performance of Make Me. However, Los Angeles Times noted that no one seems to care. It seems they were too busy checking out the intense reactions to Beyonce.

So, in Rihanna’s third performance, she knew she had to double it up following Britney Spears’ VMAs comeback and Beyonce’s Lemonade performance. The Barbadian beauty levelled it up with B*tch Better Have My Money, Pour It Up and Need Me. But for her last and final one, she belted out to her famous ballads. Owning the stage to herself, she performed Stay, Diamonds and Love on the Brain.

And then, Drake went up the stage to present the 2016 Michael Jackson Video Vanguard awardee, he also professed how he has loved RiRi since he was 22. He called her a “living legend” and then, things pretty went well.

Of course, Drake and RiRi fans sort of expected this to happen at the MTV VMA 2016:
