Modern Family star Ariel Winter is getting ready to go to college at UCLA next fall. The actress, who plays Alex Dunphy in the Emmy Award winning series, is interested in law school. She plans to get a college degree and live a parallel life with her character, who has just entered college in the comedy series.

“I would love to continue acting but it’s definitely important, I think, to go and do something else as well,” said Winter, when she spoke to E! Online last year about her impending high school graduation.

University Herald reports that the actress was accepted by UCLA in April 2016, and was initially supposed to begin classes this fall. However, due to undisclosed reasons, she has pushed back her enrollment for fall 2017.

Nevertheless, Winter is already having her college freshman experience in Modern Family. In Season 8, things are not going so well for Alex Dunphy, after she came down with mono. She needed to take several days off school and recover at home.
