This week on Modern Family Season 8, Episode 3 is titled “Blindsided.” As the Emmy Award-winning series continues to delight the audience, actress Sofia Vergara also continues to rake in the dough. She has been named the highest paid TV star in 2016, thanks partly to her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in Modern Family.

According to the episode synopsis shared by Disney ABC Press, the next episode features a big war between the Dunphy and the Pritchett families. Luke (Nolan Gould) decides to run against Manny (Rico Rodriguez) for class president. This inevitably results in a competition between the boys’ parents, who act as their de facto campaign managers.

Meanwhile, Haley (Sarah Hyland) has started a promotion business after failing to hold a decent job. Phil (Ty Burrelll) tries to give her a helping hand by introducing her to marketing guru Merv Schechter (guest star Martin Short).

Over at the Tucker-Pritchett household, living arrangements become increasingly cramped. It appears that Cam (Eric Stonestreet) will be making a desperate move to ask his star football player to live with them instead of letting him move away.

It’s early in the season for Modern Family but Sofia Vergara has been making bank. She has topped the Forbes List of highest paid TV actresses in 2016 after making US$43 million. Apart from her acting projects, almost half of Vergara’s revenues were brought in by endorsement deals and other business investments. In fact, her advertising revenues have overtaken what she actually makes from the highly successful show.

The savvy businesswoman proves that she’s more than just a pretty face and a sexy body. Despite being a bit ditzy in some of her acting roles, she’s actually a very smart person in real life, much like Gloria Delgado’s funny but fiery character.

Catch Vergara in action this Wednesday on Modern Family Season 8. The show airs at 9:00 pm ET on ABC.
