Ariel Winter was just 11 years old when she took on the role of Alex Dunphy in ABC’s “Modern Family”.
Now 17 years old, the star, while basking in the success of the show, had to face her own personal struggles. In early June, Winter underwent a breast-reduction surgery after emotional and physical troubles of being a teenager with size F chest.
In an exclusive interview with Glamour, Ariel revealed that the change did happen “overnight,” when she was just 15. She said, “I remember being in my sister’s wedding and being so flat and thinking, ‘I just wish I would grow boobs!’ and then overnight I did. But then they kept growing and growing and growing and it didn’t seem like they were going to stop.”
She shared her decision to go ahead with the surgery only with a few members of her family and friends.
Growing up in the spotlight, Winter said she had to face her battles.
“It made me feel really uncomfortable because as women in the industry, we are totally over sexualized and treated like objects.”
Furthermore, at 5’1, with a chest size of 32F, the actress experienced back pains due to which she had a difficult time standing straight for long hours during work. She decided to take charge and went on to do the surgery, bringing her size to 34D.
Winter revealed that after the breast reduction surgery, she now “feels like a new person.”
After the surgery, Winter gave a huge shout out on Instagram to thank family and friends for extending their support during these times, Entertainment Tonight reported.
The actress now has her sights on the future and as shared by Entertainment Tonight, Winter is looking to charge ahead and pursue law.
