Jennifer Lawrence and other cast members were supposed to be part of the interview before Lionsgate decided to cancel it last minute.
“Out of respect for the very recent events in Paris, we have decided to modify our red carpet and we will not conduct interviews at Monday’s ‘Mockingjay 2’ premiere,” a representative from Lionsgate said, reports ET Online.
“We will proceed with the rest of the event as planned in honor of the incredible fans who have always supported our films with such passion.”
Some parts of the final “Hunger Games” film was shot in France, including actions sequences and some of the war scenes.
Liam Hemsworth, Willow Shields and other cast members have expressed their support for Paris and those affected by the attacks through their social media accounts.
Lionsgate had recently held a premiere of “Mockingjay 2” in Paris last November 9, as well as in Berlin on November 4, Madrid on November 10 and Beijing on November 12. Main Stars Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson were all in attendance and have been interviewed extensively during the premieres.
As mentioned by Entertainment Weekly, the red carpet interview of “Mockingjay 2” wasn’t the only event cancelled over the weekend. The Sunday premiere for Steven Spielberg’s film “Bridge of Spies” was also cancelled, as well as Natalie Portman’s Monday premiere for “Jane Got a Gun”, U2’s concert in Paris and Foo Fighters tour dates.
Other bands like Simple Plan, Cold Play, Marilyn Manson and Eagles of Death Metal have also canceled or reschedule their shows.
“Hunger Games: Mockingjay 2” will be showing in cinemas starting Friday.
