Perfectly suited for the event, this year’s Comic Con 2015 started with a successful preview of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” last Thursday afternoon.
The Hall H was filled with excited crowd when the presentation started. Four people entered the stage with their mysterious white outfits, followed by the resounding drum line from the local San Diego high school band, io9 reported.
As the drum line continued, a video started to play. It showed the District 13 people, dressed in white suits and moving in sync. Then, a silhouette of a person started to appear, walking towards the middle. The shadow revealed Katniss, wearing a full, armor-like crimson outfit, looking fierce and ready for battle.
“Freedom is worth fighting for. Stand with us,” the new trailer wrote.
After the trailer, the Comic Con “Mockingjay 2” panel members were introduced. Conan O’Brien, even host a “Team Josh” member, introduced the main casts Liam Hemsworth, Willow Shields, Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence. Director Francis Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobson were also in attendance.
Another teaser was screened during the panel — an exclusive full trailer that will not be released online anytime soon. This made the crowd even more excited.
The show off between Katniss and Snow is a huge span of the preview, as we can hear the District 13 people say “Our future starts tomorrow at dawn. We march together into the Capitol.” New scenes from “Mockingjay 2” were revealed, with more characters featured — Gale, Peeta and Finnick included.
Finally, the epic battle cry of Katniss: “Turn your weapon to the Capitol! Turn your weapon to Snow!” This earned applause from the audience.
According to producer Jacobson, the final installment of the movie franchise aims to be “satisfying to the core”. This is also a way of showing gratitude to the fans that have followed the films over the past three years.
The presentation ended with a panel interview of the main cast, giving only very light hints on what to expect in the next film. Jennifer Lawrence, however, made sure fans knew how important her character, Katniss, is to her life and career.
“I don’t think I’ll ever really say goodbye to Katniss, she’s become a part of me,” JLaw revealed, according to Los Angeles Times.
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” will hit theaters on November 20, 2015.
