Australian actor Liam Hemsworth, who plays Gale Hawthorne in “The Hunger Games” trilogy, admitted that he would always have feelings for his ex-fiancee, singer Miley Cyrus.

It has been two years since the former couple called off their engagement. Nonetheless, Men’s Fitness didn’t forget to ask the Australian actor, who is the cover star for their November issue, about his past with Miley. He revealed that he has no regrets from their past relationship.

Liam said, “We were together five years, so I don’t think those feelings will ever change. And that’s good because that proves to me that it was real. It wasn’t just a fling. It really was an important part of my life and always will be.”

The two started dating in 2009 when they filmed the movie based on Nicholas Sparks’ novel, “The Last Song.” After three years, the former couple announced their engagement, yet the following year, the two called it quits.

There were speculations that Liam was disappointed seeing the singer “twerk” at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. But before 2013 ended, Miley has revealed in the Barbara Walters show that she was scared about how her relationship with Liam is going so fast, as mentioned on Celebuzz. She admitted that she couldn’t be herself around him.

Since then, the singer transitioned into a “different” Miley. Aside from her famous “twerking,” she became known for her stand-out almost naked outfits and famous for her Instagram posts.

Liam pointed out that Miley is “a free spirit.” He told Men’s Fitness, “I think she’ll always surprise people with what she does, but she’s not a malicious person in any way. She’s a young girl who wants to do what she wants to do.”

The two have remained friends, according to a scoop revealed by Glamour earlier this year. A source reported that the two still communicate through texts. However, they are definitely not working their way to get back together.

We’ll be seeing Liam Hemsworth on the big screen as “Hunger Games” Gale Hawthorne joins Katniss Everdeen in the fight against the Capitol. “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” will be shown in theatres on November 20.
