Miss World Australia 2016 finalist Elyse Miller-Kennedy, who was in the hospital for more than a week following a road mishap, took her last breath on Thursday.

On Aug. 3, Miller-Kennedy was admitted to the Townsville Hospital and was shifted to the ICU as she suffered extensive head injuries after the accident. She was driving her car, which collided with another vehicle on the Burke Developmental Road last Wednesday. She remained inside the car trapped for almost two hours and then taken to Cairns hospital in a very critical condition prior to being shifted to Townsville medical care unit.

Miss World Australia has expressed its sorrow on its Facebook Fan page. In a fundraising event on behalf of the family, Katrina Porter, a family friend, mourned the death and urged people to support her family financially. “We are absolutely devastated to announce Elyse Miller-Kennedy passed away yesterday afternoon at Townsville Hospital Intensive Care Unit, surrounded by beloved family and friends after losing her week-long battle to live after a tragic head-on collision on Wednesday 3rd August 2016,” she said.

On the FB page, friends, peers, colleagues and the whole Miss World Australia community praised Miller-Kennedy for not only her beauty and talent but also for a golden heart that she possessed.

“We are saddened to hear the tragic news and our thoughts are with Elyse and all of her loved ones at this difficult time,” Miss World Australia FB page stated. “Elyse’s caring nature, kindheartedness and ability to befriend anyone she met enabled her to become a loving component of the Miss World Australia 2016 family.”

As far as the investigation on the road crash matter is concerned, it is ongoing. According to News.com.au, a vehicle inspection unit is scheduled to fly to Cairns from Brisbane to make sure there was no vehicle defect that prompted the fatal mishap.

As of now, the fundraising event has managed to get $50,000 from people for the financial help of the family. However, for those who want to contribute, you can visit https://www.mycause.com.au/page/132876/prayers-for-elyse for details and payment options.
