Steve Harvey’s embarrassing mistake at the Miss Universe 2015 pageant made headlines internationally. After Harvey made an “honest mistake“, he stepped forward and the show host went ahead and apologized during the event and later took to social media to apologize to both, Miss Philippines and Miss Colombia.
Now, it appears that Harvey will be returning to host the Miss Universe 2016 and that isn’t all. As revealed by ET online, Harvey has been signed on for a multi-year deal.
The report citing “a source close to production”, shares that the comedian has signed on a three to seven-year contract, before the 2015 event took place.
The media company, WME/IMG currently holding rights to the Miss Universe pageant, appreciates Harvey’s overall performance at the Miss Universe 2015 event.
“He was funny, he was informative, he’s high energy, he’s got a great following,” Chief Content Officer Mark Shapiro said on the Jim Rome Show, as noted by The Hollywood Reporter. “I definitely want him back, and I would hate to see him not come back. He’s going to want a shot to redeem himself.”
“Look, the world forgives, the world forgets,” he added. “It could happen to the best of us. He was so well intended, and he’s such a good guy, and it was really such a mistake that I hope people don’t hold this over him other than for just a good laugh and let it pass.”
Shapiro shared that after the incident, “He (Harvey) felt terrible, he was humiliated, he felt he humiliated her.” He mentioned that it takes guts to go in front of a worldwide audience to admit you have committed an error and that Harvey did the right thing.
So, Harvey will be returning next year to redeem himself and again show to the world that he is in fact an amazing, amazing host.
