Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez sat down with Steve Harvey in his talk show’s “Miss Universe: The Truth” special episode. This was the first time they met after the pageant last December. Of course, it was expected to be an emotional episode.
When Steve asked her for feedback on his hosting skills, this was the reply of Miss Colombia:
“You have to learn how to read cards, because it was on the card!” and joked, “You wanted me to win.”
Steve went along with her claim and said,
“Yeah, that’s it! I wanted you to win. I’m off the hook now, that’s it. I can leave it at that.”
Although Ariadna had “the worst moment” of her life, she seemed to have moved on from the incident. Miss Colombia admitted to Steve that she thought he was about to crack a joke when he went up the stage.
Watch the video teaser here:
“For the country of Colombia, I never intended for this moment to be. For your country, but especially for the two of you. This finally gives me a chance to have a moment of closure. I wanted you to understand sincerely from my heart how I am as a person. That I would never do that as a publicity stunt.”
The “Family Feud” host revealed that the gaffe caused him sleepless nights. Nonetheless, he felt horrible for what Ariadna had experienced. Although the promo shows there were tears and apologies, both Steve and Miss Colombia managed to laugh off the incident.
Part two of “Miss Universe: The Truth” will air on Tuesday, January 19.
