Australian actor Liam Hemsworth has defended his engagement with Miley Cyrus in 2012, stressing that it was not an impulsive decision.
“I don’t think that was impulsive. That was a well thought-out idea,” Hemsworth told News.com.au about his wedding proposal.
Cyrus and Hemsworth first met on the set of Nicholas Spark’s “The Last Song” movie in 2009 and began dating afterwards. The actor was 22 and Cyrus was only 19 at the time when he proposed to her. However, they decided to call off the engagement a year later.
In his recent GQ magazine interview, the “Hunger Games” actor talked about the breakup with Miley Cyrus. Hemsworth admitted that it was a hard decision but it was “needed to happen” since he and Cyrus were heading in different directions at the time.
The pair has been rumored to rekindled their romance earlier this year and reportedly got engaged once again. In January, a source confirmed to Us Weekly that “Miley and Liam are 100 percent back on.” The insider also claimed that Hemsworth has already told his friends that they are engaged again.
Although they have not officially admitted the current status of their relationship, it was pretty obvious that Hemsworth and Cyrus are back together. “People will figure it out, they already have … They’re not dumb,” Hemsworth told GQ magazine. On the other hand, Cyrus has been spotted wearing the engagement ring the “Independence Day: Resurgence” actor gave her back in 2012.
The “Wrecking Ball” hitmaker also recently shared a photo of herself wearing a white T-shirt with the name “Hemsworth” printed across the back. Miley Cyrus captioned the image with three heart-eyed cat emojis.
The two also posted the same photo they have with the late legendary boxer Muhammad Ali. They were also spotted in New York City holding hands during a date night recently, E! News wrote.
Meanwhile, there were also speculations that couple is planning their wedding in Australia amidst rumors of split. Us Weekly wrote Miley Cyrus and Hemsworth plan to exchange “I Dos” in Down Under in summer.
