Microsoft Invents Most Annoying Alarm Ever; Mimicker Asks for a Selfie & Tongue Twister

Most people would agree that waking up in the morning and dragging yourself out of bed is one of the most difficult tasks within the day. Given this concern, Microsoft has invented a unique way to motivate people into getting up early for the day without skipping that alarm.

Tech Crunch reports that Microsoft Garage recently launched “the most annoying” alarm clock app for Android called the “Mimicker Alarm”.

Staying true to its name, the website details that a user can only turn off the alarm by mimicking certain facial expressions or emotions. However, the app is a bit demanding in that other activities are also available.

Tech Crunch lists that one of the other options included in the app involves taking a picture of an object with the same color suggested by the “Mimicker Alarm” for that day. If one is more up to a higher challenge, the user can also repeat a tongue twister given by the app.

The Verge also details other features of the Mimicker app.

According to the website, dismissing the alarm will give the user 30 seconds to play any of the game options provided. Program Manager Allison Light for Microsoft’s Project Oxford was quoted in saying:

“If you don’t complete that game in time, we assume you’ve fallen back asleep and then the alarm will start ringing again.”

Although the above description makes the Mimicker app even more annoying as it gets, it is also packed with some tolerable functions. One of these is giving the user the capacity to choose the sounds of the alarm or which game to play.
