With a net worth of $800 million, racing champion Michael Schumacher’s cost of rehabilitation is amounting to around $154,000 per week. According to Christian Today, the former champion continues to recuperate at his Lake Geneva Mansion where he is under the total care of 15 medical specialists composed of doctors, nurses, and therapists. If sources are to be believed the medical expenditure has already touched $15 million to date.
The seven time Formula One champion had suffered horrific injuries after a skiing trip went wrong in the French Alps on Dec. 29 , 2013. He was later placed in a medically induced coma to keep his condition stable. He showed some progress under a tight guarded facility barring all unauthorised communications with any media outlet, reports the Venture Capital Post.
With his medical treatment bills and rehab costs piling up, it is unsure whether the net worth of the racer is adequate enough to assure him of a secure future and guarantee his medical expenses for that matter.
Schumacher’s manager, Sabine Kehm, has put out a statement saying that her client is recovering but will take considerable amount of time to recover from such severe injuries.
“We are happy to say still he does improvement and I say this always considering the severeness of the injury he had. But of course it will take a very long time for everybody involved to fight, and we are happy to take this fight,” Kehm revealed.
Schumacher’s wife is taking the lead in managing all the family business. And while his net worth may still be enough to support his medical bills, according to sources, the family has already sold Schumacher’s personal Jet and a holiday home — worth around $25 million — to meet the escalating medical expenses. The family believes that Schumacher’s health comes first above all and they will do everything in their power to ensure his fast recovery at this stage.
