Curious about Konami’s new offering? In this article we try to round up details that every gamer should know about Metal Gear Survive. However, will the fans’ negative reception of the new title postpone its release?
News about a new Metal Gear from Konami was first unveiled by IGN this week. According to the source, it releases in 2017 across the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
IGN shared the description of the new Metal Gear as follows.
“Set directly after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Survive sees the members of Militaires Sans Frontières not killed in that game’s finale transported through wormholes into an alternate universe, where they’re forced to battle a force of crystalline zombies and, it seems, at least one Metal Gear itself.”
In addition to this teaser, the respected tech and gaming website also shared Metal Gear Survive‘s official trailer. You can watch it below.
Metal Gear Survive and fans’ feedback
Though the trailer promises a new line of adventure, fans are not thrilled with the attachment of the Metal Gear franchise to Survive. Majority of the comments under the YouTube trailer expressed this sentiment.
One of the top comments comes from user Chris Darker. The comment enumerates different Metal Gear titles including Party, Kart, Brothers and even Super Metal Smash Gear MELEE. It the says:
“KONAMI: oh yeah!!! who need Kojima? THIS IS SO EASY!!!”
The comment references the departure of Metal Gear Solid creator, Hideo Kojima, from the company. In addition, the comment mocks the company that it will attach any new title to the Metal Gear franchise despite it not being directly related to the original universe.
Meanwhile, other comments were more blunt and straightforward. User TVirus91 asked if there was a petition going around somewhere to cancel Metal Gear Survive. User Recjawjind was quick to respond by saying, “Make one. I’ll gladly sign it.” Other comments on that thread were encouraging. Other users also suggested not buying the game at all since petitions don’t usually work.
At this point, it’s safe to say any petition won’t do anything to the game’s release. Still, a postponement of the game is unlikely.
However, it is important to note that sales of the game of course depends on the fans and gamers in general. Without their support, any title would certainly be a flop.
What awaits Metal Gear Survive? Only time can tell. Stay tuned for more updates on this matter.
