The New York Post has featured 20-year-old nude photos of US aspiring president Donald Trump’s third wife Melania Trump.

The photos used by the magazine were captured in 1995 when the then-Melania Knauss was naked for a French men’s magazine, Max, which is now defunct.  The photos were taken by French photographer Alé de Basseville, as stated by the Post. The magazine published those photos in the July 31 edition and confirmed that they belonged to the January 1996 shoot. The caption for the photos is “The Ogle Office.”

The naked photos of the Slovenian model contained blue stars used to obscure parts of the breast on the cover page while the photos used inside the magazine are graphic. With high heels, sling-black shoes, a bracelet-decorated wrist and little else, the model looked gorgeous.

Basseville told the NY Post that it was the Renaissance period and the “celebration of the female body” that inspired him to photograph the nude photos of the model in such an influential manner. He said he is proud of having the opportunity to capture Trump’s beauty in a way that exhibited the freedom of a woman.

In the article “Melania Trump as you’ve never seen her before”, the aspiring US president defended his wife over the photo shoot.  “Melania was one of the most successful models and she did many photo shoots, including for covers and major magazines. This was a picture taken for a European magazine prior to my knowing Melania. In Europe, pictures like this are very fashionable and common,” Trump said.

Heavy reported Trump’s campaign’s senior communication advisor Jason Miller saying that there was nothing to be embarrassed about. The photos were of a beautiful woman dedicated to celebrating “human body as art.”

This is not the first time the aspiring First Lady came into the limelight for such a reason. It was during the Republican primary, anti-Trump PAC “Make America Awesome,” featured Facebook ads in Utah that ran provocative photos of the former model from her past photoshoot that she did for GQ.
