For breakfast-lovers, here’s some good news for you! Fast food giant McDonald’s will now be serving your favourite hot cakes, McMuffins, and hash browns all day long across Australia.
As reported on News.com.au, McDonald’s stores in Victoria and Tasmania will implement the all day breakfast menu today. By February 2016, NSW and Queensland will follow to introduce the changes in all stores. Meanwhile, Western Australia and South Australia customers have already tried the menu since the year started.
Chief marketing office of McDonald’s Mark Lollback said,
“We know Aussies love our brekkie menu and have long wanted to be able to enjoy it at any time of the day. After the incredible success of our trials, it was a no-brainer for us to answer the calls of our customers and work with our licensees to deliver all-day brekkie to the whole country.”
Maddison, an 18-year-old crew trainer in a McDonald’s store told News.com.au her concerns about the launch. She mentioned that this will be harder for younger McDonald’s school kids who work during the afternoon and night shift.
“Now we will need to swap temperatures depending on if the order is breakfast or lunch. McDonald’s are bringing out all these new things, and it’s just hard to imagine where you will fit everything in the amount of room we have,” she said.
New York Post wrote that franchisees in the United States faced problems in launching all day breakfast menus. This was found out in a survey conducted by a finance analyst named Mark Kalinowski.
“All-day breakfast is a non-starter. We are trading customers down from regular menu to lower-priced breakfast items. Not generating new traffic,” one franchisee wrote. Most owners claimed that the launch generated higher costs because they needed more people.
However, a spokesperson told News.com.au that Australian franchisees are supportive of the launch. The spokesperson mentioned that they have trained their crew to ensure the quality of service and restaurant operations.
