Tennis fans have had to live without Maria Sharapova for most of the year. Luckily, there seems to be some glimmer of hope that she could return sooner rather than later. Despite serving the first half of a two-year doping suspension, Sharapova is back on the court and has shared a video of herself in practice.

The tennis star took to Twitter earlier this week and delighted all 4 million of her followers with a short clip of on-court action. She had also been posting a lot of photos from her workouts and training sessions as of late.
As previously reported, the decision on Sharapova’s appeal against her two-year doping suspension is set to be made in early October. With the date looming around the corner, could this be an indication that Sharapova is getting ready to get back into competitive play?
Sharapova tested positive for meldonium during the Australian Open held earlier this year. The drug was added to the list of banned substances only on Jan. 1, and Sharapova took full responsibility for not being aware of it.
However, her appeal banks on the argument that she had been prescribed to take the drug close to 10 years ago due to a medical condition. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has been known to give exemptions to athletes who need to take certain medications for injuries or other medical conditions.
Fellow tennis star Rafael Nadal has recently found himself in the middle of a doping controversy after it was revealed that he had been granted WADA exemptions on two previous occasions. While these were approved by WADA, a Russian hacking group has been leaking this information in what appears to be an attempt to contest the doping charges heaped upon Russian Olympic athletes.
As her fans await the decision on her appeal, Maria Sharapova is busy keeping herself in shape. She has also been taking a business course in Harvard, which is designed for professional athletes who need to learn how to manage their assets. She has also been making the rounds in the fashion scene and promoting her candy business called Sugarpova.
