Manchester United will play the New Castle United at the St. James Park on Tuesday, Jan. 12, starting 7.45 PM GMT.
Manchester United was in a face saving mode against Sheffield United when they nearly embarrassed themselves with a goalless draw in the third round of their FA campaign. Wayne Rooney’s late penalty ensured Manchester United to take the upper hand against the minnows.
As per the Four Four Two website, Louis Van Gaal is exploring his midfield options as selection issues continue to bother him.
Germany Captain Bastian Schweinsteiger suffered a knee injury in the last game against the Sheffield United and isn’t expected to be back for the Tuesday night’s clash against New Castle.
“Schneiderlin is not injured but he’s in the red zone and had an overload,” Louis Van Gaal told reporters.
“In the Christmas period, he played every game and we have to take care of that. I don’t take risks and, because of that, we have a very young bench.
“I trust these players also because [Andreas] Pereira is coming in and was a very good substitute [against Sheffield United], I think.
“With our injuries and players in the red zone, we have to take care of it. I think we have done it well.”
Rooney is in prime form but Michael Carrick and Ashley Young will sit out for the coming game.
New Castle United are struggling to make a mark in the tournament. But the Dutchman isn’t taking them lightly. He feels that these games are often surprising and have to be at the top of their game.
As per the ABC news reports, Memphis Depay will start the proceeding for the Machester United at St. James Park.
