Manchester City will play Arsenal in their EPL campaign at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, May 8, starting 3 pm GMT.
As per the Premier League reports, the City might want to forget this week’s back-to-back defeats. The first defeat of the week came against Southampton as they lost 4-2. Sunday night’s EPL defeat was followed by another against Real Madrid as the Citizens crashed out of the competition having lost in the second leg semi-final.
Former striker Shaun Goater, speaking on Sky Sports Now, says that Man City need to win against the Gunners to “solidify” their position in the top four.
“The best way the players can give back to the fans is by putting on a great performance to make sure we win against Arsenal to ensure we stay in the top four,” says Goater.
“I don’t think the players will want to remember the season and that game in terms of how they whimpered out.
“They will want to give Manuel Pellegrini a good send off and that will come by getting a win against Arsenal to ensure they finish in the top four.”
Arsenal on the other hand had a favourable week as they remained six games without a defeat. Their recent victory against Norwich City will give them confidence in the upcoming clash.
