Macaulay Culkin has been living low profile for the past decade on purpose. He said that he passes most of his days writing, painting and “whatevering.”
According to Culkin, New York City is his home. He is “Home Alone” and happy, says New York Daily News.
“I’m a man in his mid-30s who’s essentially retired,” the former child star said in an interview.
“I kind of go where the wind takes me a little bit.”
More than 25 years have gone by since “Home Alone” was released. However, Culkin still gets stopped on the street.
The 35-year-old actor rarely leaves his Broadway apartment these days.
He said that he would take walks at two or four in the morning, because there is no one out on the streets. Moreover he feels comfortable as it becomes easy for him to go unnoticed.
“And even if I don’t get bugged, it’s looming, it’s there.”
The Home Alone star now splits his time between New York and Paris. Surprisingly, he even gets recognised over there.
Culkin took a leap to become famous after his on-screen character – Kevin McCallister, in 1990’s “Home Alone” became a household name. A sequel to the movie was released two years later.
In the early 2000’s, he released an autobiographical novel titled “Junior.” He was later photographed by a paparazzi where he looked “incredibly sallow and unhealthy.” This whole ordeal made a lot of headlines.

The photos led to Culkin’s drug addiction rumours and several Internet death hoaxes.
While taking a recent trip to Paris, Culkin walked into a cafe and asked for the Wi-Fi code. He was told by a waitress that the code was: Macaulay Culkin.
She also handed him a photo of his from Home Alone and walked away, says News Corp.
“When she came back, I said, ‘I like your Wi-Fi code.’ She goes, ‘Thank you,’ and I say, ‘C’est moi.’” Culkin said.
“She turned white and brought over the owner of the place, who said, ‘I knew you’d come here someday.’”
Since starring in films such as Richie Rich, Uncle Buck and the Home Alone franchise, Culkin has been living a low profile life.
