Microsoft is on a roll. After perfecting the development of the latest Windows 10, the company found it essential to create another crown jewel device that will exhibit its new OS’s mobile potential and features — the Lumia 940.
According to Tech Times, the Microsoft Lumia 940 release date would be in September and may battle the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. A leak tweeted by Ricciolo supports this bit, hinting that the smartphone will arrive on “hot autumn”. The tweet even described the Lumia 940 to be “Slim, Strong and Fast”and included a photo of a seemingly metal clad phone.
GFXBench has released the specs for the Lumia 940, along with its phablet version, the Microsoft Lumia 940XL. Both of them are expected to display high end features and specs together with the latest Windows 10 OS.
The Lumia 940, under the codename of “Nokia RM-1106”, will have a 20-megapixel Pureview rear camera with triple-LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera, a 64-bit hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with 32GB internal storage and 1.5GB RAM expandable to 3GB RAM.
On the other hand, the specs of its phablet version, the Lumia 940XL, were revealed by Tech Times. Described as a 5.7 inch phablet with a Quad HD display with 2560×1440 resolution, with 17-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front snapper powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip and Adreno 430 GPU with an iris scanner.
As for the physical appeal, concept designer Jonas Daehnert shared on his Behance account a preview of the handset design based on the actual leak description. With gray and black palette, the Lumia 940 sleek, metal body design shows elegance and sophistication.
So far all these remain to be rumors and Microsoft has yet to confirm any of the above mentioned specs. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming days.
