Microsoft has heralded the release of their two new gadgets, Lumia 940 and 940 XL, to be next month. According to PC Advisor UK, October 6 will be the big day for Windows fans.
The Lumia 940 is just 0.5 inches smaller than the XL in terms of screen size. Both the phones have a vivid 20MP primary camera equipped with Carl Zeiss optics like most of the high-end Lumia phones and a 5mp secondary camera with dual LED flash, geotagging, panorama and autofocus, according to GSM Arena.
The display of both the phones are shielded by the latest upgrade of scratchproof technology, Corning Gorilla Glass 4, with the operating system being Microsoft Windows 10. As the higher end, XL runs with Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & Quad-core 2 GHz Cortex-A57 processors, whereas the latter has a Dual-core 1.82 GHz Cortex-A57 & quad-core 1.44 GHz Cortex-A53, notes GSM Arena.
As for the storage and memory, both the phones have 32 GB of internal storage space and 3GB RAM and 15GB storage in the Microsoft One Drive without an external memory card slot.
Dolby Laboratories handle the sound of the newest digital plus upgrade in the speakers of both the phones and they support the universal 3.5mm jack slot for headphones with a FM radio facility as well.
The XL has a bit more efficient battery of 3300 mAh as compared to the latter which holds a battery of 3000 mAh.
As speculated by PC Advisor UK, the price of the Lumia 940 should be similarly close to the Nokia Lumia 930, of which the 940 is a replacement. Its SRP should be somewhere around $549 USD, like the Nokia Lumia 930 initially was. Coming to the XL version, the site notes that the difference between the lower end and higher end versions of the same phone should be around $90 USD, as it was with the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL.
